WHITE?

I tried the blushing white exercise for the color group. Using eggs may not have been the best choice as it's hard to get them to look 3D with just a blush of color over them and a bleed of the complementary gray around them. Oh, well. The final painting will be of something with more angles and shadows and...something else.

So the goal was to paint the object with a blush of color that still makes it look white when seen - not as easy as it looks for someone who is not a high key painter, like me!

Then paint around that object with a complementary color that is grayed down and is 1-2 values darker than the blushing white.

Didn't do anything yesterday...fighting a migraine and had to take my last pill for it (my primary physician won't renew my meds because I haven't been in to see her since November 08 - so had to make an appointment to see a doctor but can't get in until Friday 31st so hoping no more migraines before then because I have no meds. I will be glad IF our government can do something to fix this stupid system). Part of the problem is getting up early and sitting at the computer for an hour in the AM...tightens my neck and shoulder muscles...causes migraines. So less time on the computer for me for a while.

I know what you mean about tight neck muscles from sitting on the computer... I should take a break myself!!

Hope you are feeling better...

I love to paint white things - I think you're right, it probably is easier if you're used to painting 'high key.

I'm sorry to hear about your migraines! Yuck! Yes, probably should give the computer a rest for awhile. I need to also - I have neck/shoulder problems from a horse accident years ago and sitting here too long really aggravates it.

Cindi, I am working from Jeanne Dobie's book to learn whites and should work on her greens, too - she must have hundreds of them!
Laura and Angela, migraine is gone...just have to limit time for a day or so to make sure it doesn't bounce back.
Angela - a run in with a horse or a run in while on a horse?

I haven't been out of Imitrex since it prescribed in '95, a few close calls though. I'd die without it. Literally. Yes, let's hope the health care thing happens, at least we finally have a real live brain working on it. Let's hope he doesn't get a headache.

Nick, I had to laugh at your comment - I'm sure our President is dealing with tons of headaches but I think he's strong enough to work through them :) The imitrex quit working for me about a year ago and now I take Maltex - 1/2 tab that dissolves on the tongue and works quickly. Hope it continutes to work for a few years.

This is a wonderful exercise...amazing results...Color play is so magical!

I so feel your migraine pain and frustration...Went through the same thing with my meds...they become so precious...I fear to use them because the next migraine might be even worse..and I will have no meds left! :) Geesch!

Thanks, Peg :) It does seem like many creative people get migraines - maybe we are just wired differently? I checked my call-in prescriptions at the druggists and I got 12 more Maltex - enough to do me for a year, hopefully!
