EGG WHITES

Remember the blushing whites? Well, here are some photos of white things to play with, using the blushing whites and some halftones around them to bring them out and make them glow (if this works the way I think it should). So I'm off to paint eggs. Why not? It's as good a subject as any.

I once saw the members of WetCanvas paint "trolls" as a way to practice their whites. Trolls, you say? Well, that was their term for toilet paper rolls! haha

RH, thanks your your kind note!

I love the idea of the eggs... lookingforward to seeing what you do with them. I find them eggceptionally challenging to paint...

The slide shows are terrific. Self portrait pics are adorable.

Eggs so many shades of white.

I can't wait to see your paintings.

Thanks, RG for stopping by and commenting. Having tried to get a perfect butterfly painting lately, I was awed to see your handling of this butterfly on your blog recently. Hope the painting of eggs is "eggceptional!"
Cathy, thanks :) Yes, white can be so many colors!! It take a while to see that, doesn't it?

I tried eggs - very very hard, and they were the creamy-brown kind - love the eggs in water slide.

Cathy, you are so right! I began one and just doing the eggs was difficult to get more than just a color on them...did not get the shadows under, around, and on them to read correctly. Will have to do this again. One would think painting eggs would be easy!

In one of the early Mike Bailey's classes (Watercolor Beyond the Obvious, in which you crate 20 paintings of the same subject), there was a gal who did her series on a, um - troll. it turned out extremely creative and really, really cool.

Nava, I've heard Mike puts you through your paces - but 20 paintings of trolls? ha ha Now that would be worth seeing!
