My big old fat cat, Smudge, is an excellent model - he rarely moves and sleeps all over the house in various positions. He is a "Cadillac Cat" or a "Tuxedo Cat" - and I think that means he's black and white and has a lot of room in the back end (which is true).
Have you ever heard of horror vacui (vack' wee)? Apparently, it is a condition where you have a fear of empty spaces or emptiness of any kind. In art, it refers to the compulsion to make marks in any and all available space. Playing with that below - doodles filling space.
Missing color, I've begun my next 3-color challenge painting but it's going to be slow because I'm going to glaze the colors, letting each layer dry before going back to it. (If you have not purchased Daniel Smith's Rhodonite Genuine, you should. It is a gorgeous pink and can be as pale and soft as a baby's cheek or as deep and snazzy as a flamingo's feathers. The photo I took of the 3 colors didn't really do it justice - but I think this first glaze of color is closer to the real look of the pink.

Rhonda - this is going to be stunning! Whatever additional glazes you put on, though, don't lose those lights on that main flower on the right...it is wonderful at this point and will only improve with the addition of darker darks behind that flower but not added to it in the light areas. This is going to be a great one!
Oooooo - I hope you're right! I've got to keep saying, "The light makes it glow. The light makes it glow," or I'll be over that part in a heartbeat! Slowly glazing like this does slow me down enough to think more, though, so I may be able to pull this one off.
I've been enjoying your sketches while filling pages in my studio with pen and ink. Love the new Rhodonite watercolor - it's so.... Lilly Pulitzer!
Suzanne, you are right - she does love that "hibiscus pink" color in everything (http://www.lillypulitzer.com). Nothing I can afford, though :(
I was thinking more Wyatt Waters and how he adds a pink and purple in his paintings that just sing together and are so unusual for the subject matter (http://www.wyattwaters.com). Speaking of purple, I am in love with your latest painting!
Hi Rhonda, I'm sure enjoying your doodling and sketches. The hollyhocks are coming along beautifully too. I'll be back to check out the finish. Hope your migraine eases soon.
Ann, thanks for checking and commenting - I'll post the finish soon....
