I have several new books that I haven't studied yet. Oh, yes, I have opened them and looked at every painting and picture in them, but haven't sat down and read and applied some of the lessons yet. I need to do that because they are all great books:
2. Experimental Drawing byRobert Kaupelis
3. Expressive Portraits by Jean Pederson
4. Taking Risks with Watercolor by Shirley Trevena
So, on this dreary, bleak, cold winter day, I'll snuggle in with some beautiful art and new techniques and, hopefully, learn a few new things. And, of course, I'll take a break from the books and visit some of my favorite blogs today, too. Seems like most of them are back from the holidays and are posting again - which I love to see!
BTW - I only got one comment on the new blog layout, colors and style (thanks, Myrna!) so I'm assuming it's fine with the changes I made :) So this is it until spring maybe when I want something a little more warm and green (green, did I say green???!? ha-ha)

Rhonda, I enjoyed visiting your blog (all past posts) and like your blog very much; so I put your blog on my blog's link list. I hope you agree!
Kind regards and a wonderful, creative New Year!
Claudia
Guten Tag, Claudia! I just took a quick look at your blog and it's wonderful - I admire your delving into woodcarving and printing, too! I am very pleased you have added me to your list of artists and will also add your blog to my list so others can share in your work :)
I have "Expressive Portraits" by Jean Pederson, and am going throygh it. It's really inspiring to go beyond and take risks. Love it!!
Thank you, Rhonda, and keep up the good work! Your blog is fantastic! Good reads and wonderful paintings!
Thank you, Claudia. I am enjoying visiting your blog, also! You paint in such a clean, painterly style with your watercolors - just enough brush strokes to make the painting without going overboard (like I often do).
Nava, if you like Jean Pederson, check out Mary Whyte, too :) And for more loose and expressive portraits, try Janet Rogers.
Nava, I hope it's ok to post your blog link to mine on the sidebar. I just realized I hadn't put your work there!
