Well, I needed some better photos of Spanish Moss in order to finish my Beloved One crow painting. So had to go south for some reference photos...to northern Florida.
Spent a wonderful week away and now am glad to be home and getting back in the groove. So I have some good photos to use to finish it up and the Susie Short DVD for waves and am itching to pick up the brushes again...
Depending on the white balance setting of the camera and the amount of sunlight on the moss, the moss can go from very warm to very cool colors. So I could really choose something interesting for what is in the white areas hanging down.

I've never seen moss like that. We get lichen that looks like the one in your 3rd photo but not as dangly. LOL. What fabulous inspiration you come up with.

Gillian, it's an epiphyte that is an air plant (doesn't neet dirt, just water and air) and hangs off the trees in the southern US. You can pull it right off and it grows dangly like that, stretching down from a high branch. Pretty cool! No painting today - had a watercolor meeting that was great and catching up on post-vacation stuff still...and calling the dentist because I chipped a tooth somehow!!
