UP AND DOWN

Isn't it sad how a single comment can make you feel bad?
For those of you who checked earlier, you'll see that the photos of the Grand Ds are gone, along with that post. All from my husband saying, "Did you get a model release to post those photos?" He was serious.

That got me thinking about family.
And how maybe I don't have one?

So I went down to my art room to shut out the voices inside my head and worked a bit more on this painting of T. I think I'm getting closer to what I wanted to convey but still not there - doesn't really capture her essence at all...her fun-loving, her brightness, her crazy-kid spirit. But, heck, it's just a painting, right? And it is better and livelier than the other one.

Hey, I'm starting to miss the thin version so that prooves you're getting there Rhonda, much closer to the actual photo now (signed: "the crazy-kid" lol)

My dear, you have my permission and encouragement to be kind to yourself. Now give yourself the same permission and encouragement! Here's a good phrase to keep in mind..."It's none of my business what anyone else thinks of me." You're very brave to blog the way you do and there are scads of us out here who love you and appreciate your presence. Be like a duck. Let those worries roll off your back. Good job with the better portrait!

I understand Rhonda. I have one of those crazy families with stepkids and sometimes I'm not so sure you truly belong. The holidays can be tough so hang in there and find something to laugh about (even if you have to rent an old movie).

Hope you defeated the blues, Rhonda. I never considered having to get a model release from family members so that is something to consider. Technically, it is good to be on the safe side. Emotionally, it is kind of a downer to even have to think about getting a model release. Would a release have to be obtained if they are to be gifts? Sure would spoil the surprise, wouldn't it

Thanks much for your comments, Teresa, Suzanne (big warm (((HUG))) for you today!), Vicki, and Ann. Yes, being a step-mother (thank you, faery tales for making that a 4-letter word!) isn't always an easy road. And Ann, it never occurred to me to ask for a model release from a family member - which is what made this seem like a reminder that I'm not really family?? My reaction was overwrought, I'm afraid, and there is just too much family stuff going on right now to kill my buzz for life! That doesn't mean I'm not painting, though.
