WORKING WITH A MIGRAINE

Woke up with a migraine this morning. Took a pill. It hasn't worked completely but I'm not in a lot of pain...just queasy :(

So...I could go to bed and cover my head and hope it goes away
or tough it out and do something to take my mind off it.

Did the latter.

Finished up/worked on some things lying around (after doing a cleaning and straightening Sunday and Monday).

Here's what I have. Dancing Petals is done, as far as I'm concerned. I'm okay with it, not in love with it. Why? Because there isn't a single white left in the painting and, although you don't need to leave whites, I feel I do to become a better watercolorist - so it's not as successful as I'd like.

I really dislike the heart painting now. Maybe I can get the paper lace pieces off...maybe not and it's just a learning experience. We'll see.

The Shaker Village Scene is finished and I'm pleased with it, knowing how long I worked on it with drybrush to get the shapes. This morning I went back to wet on dry paper and toned it a bit more with some deep reds and blues. This had been sitting, unfinished, for months, and I was even surprised when I found it under a pile of paintings in process and photos.

Now to get some caffeine inside me - which seems to help with migraines sometimes and nothing else seems to be working.

Sorry to hear you're struggling with a migraine today. Hope it passes soon.

I love the shapes dancing across the surface of your petals painting. I don't think it needs white (although I understand your feelings about this), but it might be fun to vary the blues a bit -- maybe push some of them warmer. I think it would add to the sense of movement you've so successfully created with the shapes.

My daughter has migraines. Besides medication, caffeine, try eating 12 almonds. You sound like you are too hard on yourself. Your work is beautiful and unique...when you feel it is done, move on to another. My daughter performs at a high level and puts more pressure on herself than anyone else...I have a suspicion, you have much in common.

Migraines are horrible. I hope yours stops by the time you read this. And yes, caffeine does help.

I like your petals and wonder too if a little variation in value may make you love it more. :)

I do love the colour in this piece so much.

I can emphathize with that. When I used to get them caffeine helped, as did a really hot bath with a hot cloth over my eyes. Now my "head condition of choice" appears to be vertigo - had that over the weekend. Nothing yet helps that (except time).
Ain't gettin' old AWFUL!

Chris, see the latest posting for color - my camera seems focused (pun intended!) on the turquoise-cerulean blue color and can't draw out the violet and darker blues in there. I had Jerry take this with his good camera (not my point and shoot).
Donna B, thanks for stopping by and posting. Yes, I am hard on myself...comes from wanting so badly to be perfect (as if I could ever be!!).
Deb, vertigo sounds worse than a migraine!! Hope you are better by tomorrow's meeting - it's going to be a doozy and we don't want you woozy! haha
Jeanette, it could need some variety in values, too, but I do have variety in colors. Ah, so much to accomplish in just this lifetime?!?

Donna B - what is in almonds that helps? Hmmm...will have to check that out. I tried eating 12 almonds once - I think I am slightly allergic. I can eat 6 but not 12 or my throat gets itchy.
