CLASSIC

A classical pose, an elegant figure...that's Brian Baxter!

I had a wonderful time at our last Figure Drawing session. Once again, I was the only student who showed up. Not sure what the problem is with others - the thing doesn't start until 11:30 so it can't be a "didn't wake up" issue. But this time of year gets busy for so many people.

I was in a rotten mood and always didn't go. So glad I did! I got to choose the pose (with a little help from Brian and Charles), and I liked this one a lot. By the time 2:30 rolled around, I was ready to stay another hour and had lost my bad mood completely.
Thanks to Brian and Charles for making the last day a good one! Don't know when the next session begins (probably in January) but I'm ready to sign up now :)

Good muscle definition Rhonda. Pleased to hear the session was a good one and eased your mood.

Your sensitivity to the line work is well executed. Glad the drawing session helped turn your day around, too.

Rhonda...Hooray for you for being the only one to show up! This shows such growth for you in your life drawing, I am so impressed. One little nitpick, though...aren't his buttocks a bit small for those muscular thighs? Maybe it is just me, though...and maybe I don't understand muscular bods?....Susan

Thanks, Ann, Sandy and Susan. I know his bum look small compared to the rest of him but I think it's right - very compact :)

What a lucky lady to have this hunk of a guy pose just for you. You certainly made a great job too. Not fair these men have such tiny bottoms is it???

Joan, it's always pleasing when the body we're sketching is pleasing or very interesting. And yes, men have that testosterone thing going for them in their shape, that's for sure :)

I agree with Susan - you are getting so good at this - I'm envious! - and proud that you make this a priority for yourself. How cool to have a one-on-one session with the teacher you admire so much.

Deb, you can always join us! Knowing I have the class does get me drawing more than I normally would - I always have good intentions but they drop off after a few sessions if I try to go through lessons myself.

Hey Joan, thanks for the compliment!
It's funny the way men and women are built so differently. Charles and I were getting a kick out of the size of Rhonda's feet. They are so tiny! She told us she wears a size 5 shoe. Her feet are so cute her shoes look like little doll shoes.
For you folks that have never met Rhonda, she has such a sweet temperament she's very endearing even when she is grumpy.
It's such an honor to model for serious artists like Rhonda and Charles. While I'm posing, classical music is playing in my head. Compared to modeling for a college class where students are fiddling with their cell phones, iPods, playing around, giggling and goofing off, a class like this is what I love the most.
Hope to see you back next year Rhonda! (and you too Deb.)

Hey, Brian! Actually, I wear a 5 1/2 - 6 shoe (still smaller than most people, I know). Well, I am only 5'4" tall although I'd love to be 5'7" or so...no such luck. I will definitely be back in the new year to do more drawing and see you again. I don't know where you were when you were posing for us, but you were definitely "in the zone." :) Have a wonderful holiday season (don't let Christmas get you down - kick it to the curb and have a good time).
PS I don't think university students realize how lucky they are to have live models who are so professional - it takes time to be thankful for things in your life that others take for granted, I guess.
