And So April Ends: Poetry

Laura and her lovely blog have brought me back to poetry. I signed up for a poem-a-day from poets.org and have so enjoyed slowly savoring each word as a start to my day before emails and replies and blog posts. I just discovered (I'm always late to the party!) that they have a project of putting verse on photos/with photos and posting them. So for this last day of April, I'd like to share this one with you.

Isn't is a very cool and wonderful idea, melding poets' words with people's photos? There are so many that are really striking! Humans have such imaginations!

It is creative, Margaret Ann :) Wouldn't it be fun to paint poems?

Dear Rhonda,

Hey, this is my photo! It's so neat to see how well-received it was, I'm impressed by that. Could you please put my name to it?

Thanks, Alison, for claiming this photo - I don't think I knew who took the photo and realize I did not make it clear that it was not my photo :( I should have done that right away. I will definitely put your name under the photo and I'm happy it caused such a reaction, too - it's a beautiful work of art :)

Alison, do you have a webpage or site I can direct people to in the future?

Hi Rhonda,
Thank you so much! It is ironic that after I was reading about people stealing other's intellectual property online, I randomly went searching for a poem, and found your post:
You did not claim authorship, you included the link to the original post of my photo, and that was wonderful!!! I believe my name was never actually published with the photo, so you did your best, and thanks for sharing.

(BTW - the photo was taken of magnolia petals I stamped - no photoshop!)

I don't have my own website, but am the president of the Philadelphia chapter of the Women's Caucus for Art. Here's a link to our blog:

Thanks again, it's so nice to get the recognition!
Cheers,
Alison
