HEARTS

For Valentine's Day - a few of sketches/paintings/collages from my Heart Journal (begun in 2009).  I now have a new cardiologist (my old cardiologist changed practices and I decided to stay with the practice, not the person).  I haven't met him yet but will see him next month.  A check-up and some new things to discuss.  (Did you watch the Barbara Walters program about heart surgery last week?  It talked about her valve replacement and recovery, as well as those of Robin Williams and Bill Clinton and others.)

If you held my heart in your hand,
would you find it lacking?
Would it be the right size and shape
for a woman's heart in love?

Where would you find that love?
Not in the heart, but in the mind?

The mind creates our love stories -
stories good or bad.
But if you could hold my brain instead,
would you also find it lacking?

Where does this love reside?
Inside...outside...eternal.

Thank you, Cathy and Tere! Happy Valentine's Day to you both - eat something delicious and chocolate today. Jerry went overboard for me and I have enough to last a normal person a month (but I'm not normal so it will last about 1 1/2 weeks :)

Oh Rhonda I am sorry I missed the Barbara Walters show on hearts. I had my Holter monitor 6 month check up for my A-fib the end of January and although they found a few bleeps and bumps...nothing series and the meds are doing their job. I hope you are doing okay too.

What intriguing imagery. I had no idea of your medical problems but I sincerely hope that your new specialist can give you hope and comfort. x

Thanks so much, Vicki, Gillian and Ginny :) I'm sure I'll be just fine, considering all my valves are leaking! ha ha Ginny, I think A-fib is more serious than what I have and I with everything leaking, I don't have to worry about blockages!

It's got to be the size I'm seeing on this machine, but your guy piece that you got too involved with resembles a heart if you squint a little. Gesturals can record a lot more information then we think. I love your figures, and drawing from movie stills is a fantastic idea--I've been thinking about that for some time, but haven't tried it yet. You may have just given me permission to get off my butt and have a whack at it. The idea of laying down the massing before the linear is counter intuitive--I love it. Finally,I love your heart--in the anatomical valentine, and that sweet poem. Take good care of yourself, spring and all that rejuvenation is just at hand. Best regards, Wm

William, thank you so much for stopping by and for taking the time to comment on paintings and posts. I'm definitely coming over to view your work right now - how could I not after these kind comments? I love "meeting" artists whose hearts are as big as their talent!
