Today, my Sweetie and I drove up to Hyde Park Square to see the art show...specifically to meet and see the work of Mary Beth Shaw, a blogger buddy of mine :) After driving around and around and finally finding a spot to park a few blocks away from the booths, we walked there and went right to Mary Beth's booth (she had an excellent spot) and met her! She was just as lovely as I thought she would be from her blogging and comments online...now I definitely have to take one of her workshops!!!
Her work, in person, is even more wonderful. There is such a tactile aspect to it that you don't get unless you are standing in front of it (I didn't touch but I wanted to). She had a large variety of works and I had to have one...I looked through all of them and one just spoke to me so I got it before I left the show and after we walked around to see many painters, photographers, jewelry and wood artists. Quite a variety and all top notch! If you didn't go this year, go next year - it's an annual event and a wonderful way to spend a few hours on a lovely October day.
Driving back home with some Empire apples in a bag (purchased from the Farmer's Market), and an apple muffin (we had already eaten one), the sky was the most gorgeous, brilliant, pure blue; clouds were scattered in small and large groups of slowly walzing shapes, moving ever-so-slowly across the sky in colors of pure white, gray-blue, gray and tinges of rose. Beautiful day...beautiful lady...beautiful art! Who could ask for more?
Oh, you want to see the painting I got from MB? Feast your eyes:
Matted and ready to pop into a nice frame, it's called Simple Gestures and it really wanted me to buy it...so I did!
Jerry took some photos of us...I'll share them later when he downloads them to the computer.
But for now, I hope you are having a very good day (and hope you have a great many sales today, MB).

Hi Rhonda,Is Mary Beth on your blog roll? I would love to look at her work
Sorry, Cathy, I didn't post that - she is on the blogroll as Common Denominator...check this URL

to see her work and check out her recent workshop, etc.
Beautiful painting that you bought, Rhonda!! Must have been an awesome show to see.
It was a wonderful, bright, cool day and the artwork was top notch! And the Hyde Park folks all had their doggies out walking them - either pocket pooches or super-sized doggies (lots of great danes, dalmations, boxers, etc). All very well behaved and strutting, looking around - the funniest thing which would have made a great photo: The dogs sitting watching the folks grill the hotdogs and serve them up! haha
Those are MY colors, Rhonda! I normally am not drawn to non-representational art but this painting is different, very nice composition and it does draw one in. Congrats on the purchase!
Sounds like you had a lovely day, viewing all the artwork and visiting the Farmers Market. Really enjoyed seeing the painting you purchased.
Sounds like an absolutely lovely day and you new painting purchase is beautiful.
Hey Rhonda!! It was so terrific to meet you. The Blog world is amazing, isnt' it. You and Jerry are both such sweeties, I felt like we could have hung out for hours. (that is, if I wasn't working, ha!).
Anyway, the show was great, I had good sales and made some excellent contacts. And saw the best dogs I have ever seen, I swear :-)

Thanks, Ann and Vicki. It was a good day all around.
