Watercolor Artist Magazine + Tendrilled Trumpets

I received my latest Watercolor Artist magazine yesterday and guess who's in it, leading us in the Creativity Challenge for June? Nicholas Simmons, that's who! Check out how he works with Photoshop to create paintings from photos and paintings from previous paintings...pretty cool. I might have to try this, playing with color, line and texture on my version of a photo program...maybe it will work.

And guess who is going to be featured in the next issue Watercolor Artist? Chris Beck, that's who! It's fun for me to open a magazine and see someone I "know" from the online world of art and blogging.

And here is where I am with the Tendrilled Trumpets. What do you think? Miskit is off and needs softening here and there - needs some leaves at the top pushed back - anything else you see? I'm putting in the before miskit off and after miskit off photos because the color on the after miskit off is a bit off on the leaves but more true on the flowers - this one didn't want to photograph the true colors and no sunshine today so just took the photo in my little art room with 3 lights on (2 of them are supposed to be the real sunlight lamps but they aren't Ott Lights). In other words, the leaves are a bit more warm and the flowers are a bit more cool than what I'm getting with my camera.

I think Angel Trumpets are most interesting and I love the colors you have chosen. Great background too.

Thanks, Deb and Vicki. Now to soften those whites that were miskited...

It's magnificent--luminous and full of great shapes, lines, and colors! You can really see, in your two photos, how the warmer one, IMHO, "works." A good lesson for me: my paintings tend to be cool, I think.

Lovely, Rhonda!! I love Angel Trumpets and these are so full of life! Thanks for the news update too!! I wasn't certain that my feature would appear in August, but I guess if they say so in the June issue, it must be true!! ;-D
