I think it needs something more - perhaps some calligraphy to punch up the tendrils? Some well-placed darks?
In the meantime, I've started another painting for my blue series. This one I'm calling Rhythm and Blues. The first thing I did was take miskit and scroll it over the paper in some curving ways, hoping that will look good later when I take it off. Then started with some different blues and violets.
I'm going to go in behind and around these with Indigo and other blues, I think. Hope to pop them out and tone down that cobalt blue shadowing = too much!

Beautiful colors and so creative of you to do this..I like it a lot..BTW I have started a new blog dedicated to my sketch work — Art on Sketchbook
Hi Rhonda, I just love, love, love your blues, the painting looks nearly complete? Will you hang your blues pictures in a group?
Thank you so much Megha, for stopping by and commenting. I will definitely check out your art.
Cathy, thanks! If I ever mat and frame them, I will hang them together. Of course, I'm thinking a new coat of paint on the outside and inside of the house - so maybe when that is done, they will look good over the sofa whether they match the walls or not! ha ha
The Tendrilled Trumpets look so beautiful, Rhonda. I'm not sure about this so take it with a grain of salt but it is the leaf in the upper right (viewer's) that grabs my attention. Overall the painting is very well done!
The trumpet painting is so beautiful--I like how you have developed details in some, not all, the leaves! And the variation in the dark background. But of course the beautiful trumpets are the star!
Love love your blues?
Thank you for explaining the process too--it's fun to follow along.
(Could you tell me which blues you're using?)
