GRANDPARENTS' DAY

Yesterday morning, Jerry and I got to visit our granddaughters at their school for the annual Grandparents' Day open house. There was musical entertainment from the Suzuki players first with a short talk by the principal and then we each took a room and visited with a grand for a while, switching about half-way into the time frame to visit the other. Jocelyn's teacher had lots of questions for us so I didn't get to spend much one-on-one time with Joss but I did get to watch Alaina do some math work and then she read me a book about sponges. I wish we could have spent the whole day and actually seen what they do in a normal day, but of course all the kids were wired since it definitely wasn't a normal day - there must have been 500 grandparents trying to get into the school!! Makes me realize what it's like for parents who have to drop off/pick up their kids every single day and drive and wait and drive and wait and...

And this afternoon we pick up our grandson, Devlin, and get to keep him overnight with us while his family goes on a short camping trip :)

A few photos taken by Grandpa Jerry...

All three are adorable! Sounds like a great way to spend the day.

Thanks, Vicki, Jocelyn (9 yo) is looking just like her mother and is looking so grown up now - and so smart with her new glasses! Alaina has a very distinct look and reminds me of Kyra Sedgewick of The Closer. Devlin is just Devlin so far...wonder what he will look like in another few years?

All three of these Grands are beautiful children, aren't they fun?! Alaina does remind me, too, of Kyra Sedgewick. Sounds like you had a great day, as well as many of the other granparents. What a nice thing for the school to do...

Cute photos! At the rate my kids are going, and at my age, I will probably never have grandchildren so I'll just appreciate them vicariously through others!

I was just thinking about Devlin - well, I didn't remember his name, but I remember that we both painted pictures of our new grandsons around the same time, and I was wondering what he looked like now. Louis was 1 in March, and he looks nothing like the little bundle in a yellow blanket that I painted. He is usually found chasing his brothers and sister around with a Star Wars sword, with a fierce look on his face. :-)

Thanks, Susan, Deb and Michelle. They do grow up FAST!!! Devlin always has a grin on his face - a very happy kid - and he's 17 months old now - racing around and falling down a lot.

Thanks, Deb. Anyone who sees Jerry tells him, "Those Carpenter genes are strong!" Moe, his daughter, has his looks and then Jocelyn looks like Moe and so on and so on! ha ha
