AMARYLLIS - FIRST PAINTING

When we returned from our week away in Florida, I decided it was time to paint some of the amaryllis photos I took as it was blooming.  This is the first one, where it was just starting to bloom.

This is on Hahnemuehl (?) watercolor paper and I like the way it helps the watercolor work.

After a few of these, I’ll get to the birds or other photos from our Florida trip.

I always love the look of a flower rising from the bud! I force bulbs now and then--including amaryllis and hyacinth--just to paint them, but I missed out this year. Glad you didn't!

Laura, this was as the plant (a single bulb covered in wax with a flat bottom) began to peek out - had to document it and it wasn’t as quick to bloom as the potted bulbs (3 of them) I got for birthday - those were monster flowers!
Thanks, Jennifer :). I do like the delicacy of this one.
