WORD VERIFICATION AND SPAMMERS

There should be a special place in hell (or whatever you believe in that is similar) for Spammers.  I just received 7 new posts - all spam.  They were sent to my spam folder in Blogger but I did see them in my gmail account and reported them as spam.  What a crock!  If it gets to be too much, I guess I'll go back to the word verification and hope Blogger eventually makes it easier for those of us with older vision to post without giving up from frustration.

Spammers Suck!  May they all be infected with viruses in their computers and bedbugs in their homes; they should wake up with horrid cramps in their fingers so they cannot type their malicious messages.

Guess Blogger knew this was coming down the pike so that's why the word verification got so complicated.

I have a funny spammer story Rhonda....I used to have a blog on Yahoo and there was alot of spammers jacking us all up so I started a prayer blog for the spammers and every comment was a prayer for them. Well one of them started chatting with me and I found out he was a young man trying to support his family by sending these messages for which he got paid pretty well. We prayed and chatted for quite some time and he eventually thanked me for my concern and went away. I often wonder what became of him and his family. I took down my prayer blog for spammers and left Yahoo for Google and then the Yahoo blogs went all to hell. Like right out of Ripleys Believe It or Not, isn't it. It's true.
I'll pray for your spammers.
Hey, I understand you met Carrie Waller at the Carol Carter workshop. Must have been great.

Porn! I don't have time for porn, Maggies :) ha ha

Carol, yes, do pray for them because I just can't do it :(

I'm getting more spam so I guess no matter how difficult the word verification is, it's better than sorting through a dozen spam "comments" in one day!

Verification is a necessary evil, no matter how frustrating it can be at times. There is far more spam out there than most servers (and people) can ever cope with. Keep the verification on or you'll be inundated!

That is why I have reinstated word verification. I hate spam.
I have to say I don't mind the new word verification, I'm getting used to it. Google help says you only have to type the first word for the comment to "take".

Wow. I wonder if I get spam too? I don't get email notifications of them, so I'm guessing not. I guess I am fortunate in this!

I just checked and there was one spam for me, guess I am just not as popular!

Okay, it is back to the word verification nonsense for me, too! Ridiculous!

Yep, girls, just deleted 14 spam comments :(

Judy, I didn't know that and will try with just typing the first word and see if it goes through.

Sherry, check your Spam section of your comments - you should see it above the comments for approval.

Sorry we all have to do this but it seems a necessary evil right now. Didn't know spammers were so prevalent!

I don't get too many. Guess my blog is just too weird, lol.

Thanks for your comment on my Brett in the Desert the other week, Rhonda. Sadly, i decided to delete the whole post a few hours after posting it. The work was just too unresolved.

In hindsight i should simply have gutted the post and left and explanation. So sorry if you dropped by later only to find your comment gone. Didn't mean to be rude.

No wonder i'm desperate for spammers if i treat my prized bloggers this way!

Harry, I'm enjoying your series on Brett - each one more interesting with lots of background info, too. I like it when I'm introduced to an artist I had never "met" before. No need for apology - sometimes we post too soon or change our minds (we are, after all, artists! ha ha). Keep posting and I'll keep peeking over your shoulder to see what you're doing :)

Yup! I once had to clear a spam message that was put on EVERY post in my blog. Very frustrating and time consuming. Grrr...

Letter verification plus moderation is the only way to go.
