I finally got some time to start with the transparent colors on the flamingo. I'm using mostly warm yellows and oranges or warm, dark reds for this. It certainly isn't a pink flamingo, but I'm liking the way it looks so far because these colors play off the blue/orange complements.

The water is looking really good. I like the orange as well but are there orange flamingos?
Wow Rhonda, the water was looking even better after adding more opaques and whites but now with theflamingo colors the painting has really come to life, those oranges are so fierce! I'm loving this one and hope it's just the begining of a series.
Looking good. He is just a pink flamingo in sunset.
Bill (or Lisa), I have to say they looked more orange than pink IRL, maybe because they were in a zoo and being fed flamingo chow instead of the little red crustaceans they normally get in the wild. They were almost neon looking when the sunlight hit them :) And here you thought I was being creative? ha ha
Teresa, I like that comment about the oranges being fierce!
Well, he (or she) was in the bright sunlight of a Florida day but I'll accept sunset, Vicki :)
Don't worry about the color yet, guys and girls - I will tone it down some...don't want it to be too garish to be a good painting. Of course, this is a study for the larger one so now I know not to get too crazy with the orange :)
