Carol Carter - The Queen of Color

Until I get more photos ready and read my notes again to type up, go on over to Carol's blog and see the photos of the group.

The photo of Carol and the Carolettes is a hoot!

(Carol, Sandy, and I will all be posting about the workshop as the days go on and we all get organized.)

I highly recommend scheduling a workshop with Carol. Three days of intense, amazing color and technique and method and talking about the artistic process and your vision as an artist = what do you want to say??? So many artists have a problem with this - they are technically wonderful at the medium but what are they saying with their work - or do they intend to say anything at all. Is a flower always a flower or could it be something else? Does the color you use make a statement that is subtle but it's there? I think this is where I am with my painting and that's why this really hit home for me.

Between Sandy's guidance these 5 years and this workshop with Carol, I think I'm ready for my next big leap of faith :) I hope you all come along with me.

Just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about, here is the painting I did the last day. My sketch (adjusted from Virtual Pose 3 and printed out and sketched and enlarged and then transfered onto the wc paper), my composition, my colors.

I call it

Cold Pressed

Wah! Just an hour ago I was writing to you about the workshop without even realizing you've already attended! gosh, I've been raving all the way through your posts, incredible color! I'm sure you're flying on air knowing how much you enjoy color and it's visible in this piece you painted, you do have gotten really good at figures and the cold against arm in this one works great, not forgeting about the detail too, I totaly love it Rhon and can't wait to see more!

Carol, so good to hear from you so soon! Yes, we can work this out. You could just copy and paste into your blog or I can create a Word document I can send you and then you could copy and paste that into your blog - or you could just send people a link to my blog (when you link you need to put the whole thing there so people can just click and go - so for me it would be http://rhcarpenter.blogspot.com and then the link would come up. We'll work it out. Email me at RHCarpenter@gmail.com and we'll talk about it.

Glad you liked it, Suzanne. You must really be digging through the archives for this one - I couldn't remember what it was but figured it was the Carol Carter workshop. I highly recommend her teaching!
