BROOD - X

Well, I had to try since I had some photos of the little pests.  How can something so small be so LOUD???

Ha! Though I'd hate to see a real live cicada, I love the painting; great color choices.
I remember the year we had so many gypsy moths: they would drop out of the trees onto your head and you could hear them chewing!

Wait until you see the next one coming up, Laura! ha ha. Yeah, they are still around and might be the rest of the month but not half as loud as they were earlier this month. Oooo - hate having them fly into me or get in my hair even if they don’t sting or bite. And moths?? No, thank you! ha ha.

They are rather beautiful in a creey red eye kinda way. I'm not sure I would want to see them en masse up close and personal though. I shall admire them in your painting ;o) where they are quiet. How big are they?

Lisa, they are about 2 inches in length from head to end of wings, so bigger than your usual bug but harmless - although loud! I just unwrapped my mimosa tree today since I think it’s safe now and I see a few flower buds which might bloom out if the white wrapping is off. My grandmother’s mimosa trees in her bad yard are about 40-50 feet tall and full of blooms!
