WATER LILIES
I removed the masking fluid and am now directly painting the subject, lily pad and flowers/shadows.
Slow and steady wins the race with this one, I think - before, I rushed through and made a mess.
Still not finished, but getting close.
I cannot believe it is December!

this year has just flown by
nice pinks in the flowers, the shadows look maybe a bit too dark tho
I can't believe it either :-O
Fascinating to see how you've built up the layers in this, makes beautiful nuanced tones. I just caught up with some previous posts - Congrats on 9 great, industrious years! I haven't counted mine, I think it's 7 or 8. Keep going, facebook just isn't the same!
Well, shoot, Jennifer Rose! You may be right and I might have gotten to heavy wth the shadows - perhaps a do-over with more variety and lushness to the shadow shapes? Definitely something to do. In person, there are about 3 colors in those shadows but you can't really see them from online. Funny how sometimes things look better online and sometimes they look worse (or just not true to reality).
Cathy, thanks so much. I know you have been busy. I cannot believe it's been 9 years - so many bloggers have gone away or gone to FB (and you're right, it's not the same - I mean, is it important to me that someone glanced at my work, hit that LIKE button and moved on - or better to have a smaller following that will actually say, hey, I like this because...or this doesn't work...or...). So I don't think I'll ever become too involved with FB other than family stuff and keeping in touch with those I cannot reach any other way. Have a wonderful week to come and I hope you keep going with blogger, too!
the difference in colours/tones is one reason i am sometimes reluctant to comment on things I see on screen since they can look so different in person. maybe make the colours stand out more?
Dear Rhonda these water lilies are really coming along beautifully. Will be looking forward to seeing the finish.
