Worked more on this one and I see it's almost done but that plate isn't right. I'll have to look closely and carefully and slowly and get that ellipse closer to true. Right now it's just not there. The shadow shape needs a bit more work, too.

Ellipses can be tricky. Try drawing a box around it to get the proportions correct.
An interesting conposition and the blue of the plate is lovely.
Your strip tease shows off "quite a pear.......".

Jeanette, thanks. Good idea - I'll put a piece of tracing paper over it and try getting it right. I know you don't like pear paintings but this one is a bit different :)

A friend suggested drawing a flattened "X" and then connecting around the outside to get the elipse in proportion. It helped me. I like the title of this one Rhonda. Thanks for signing up for my artist trading card giveaway and since you like penguins, I hope you win it too.

Hi Rhonda, lots of good work in this wee pear watercolour painting. The perspective of the knife is good it looks very realistic doesn't it. The pear stands out well almost shining out on the plate and the peel is well painted too. Once again I like the colours you are using and how the washes work so well together. I especially like the background. Keep going!

Joanie, yes, if an ellipse is really off, it just looks wrong, doesn't it? ha ha This may be why I don't often do still lifes!!
