NATIONAL SQUIRREL APPRECIATION DAY

Don't ask me where I found out that today, January 21st, is National Squirrel Appreciation Day. I obviously spend too much time surfing the web!

Here's a cutie out my bedroom window...watching me watching him (or her).

I love their little paws, clutched tightly to their chests, and boy! wouldn't you love to have an expressive, fluffy, beautiful tail like that?

Go out and appreciate a squirrel today...maybe even sketch or paint one.

Great photos Rhonda. We, too, only have the grey squirrels in the wild in this part of England. Mostly found in woodlands. Don't know about having a fluffy tail though - how would I get my jeans on??

Oh if only my mother-in-law would get into computers I'd send this off to her so fast. She would prefer not to see another squirrel again.

I'm so happy they have an appreciation day!! They are cute, crafty, and dashing. We have fox, gray, red & flying squirrels here.

Thanks for the info!!

They're cute aren't they, even though the grey squirrel is considered vermin here in the UK, gradually pushing out the few remaining red squirrels that are even cuter!
Isn't it about time there was a blogger's day?

Dear SQUIRREL lover,
I wonder how many pounds, no, TONS! of bird seed I feed them each year. And as I complain, I'm still smiling because they are so cute, so ambitious, and darned smart, too! They certainly can't be ouwitted.

How about that. I guess there is a day for everyone!

I love to see squirrels out on their bellies on my deck railing with one set of legs on one side of it and the other set on the other. So funny!

Glad you enjoyed the squirrelly pics, Joan, Pam, Gillian, Sandy, and Elizabeth :) Joan, I'm sure if we had such fluffy tails, designers of our jeans would take that into consideration :) Now there's a mental picture for you! ha ha
We just pour bird seed out on the glass table outside and that's the squirrels' domaine - keeps them from the hanging feeders and suet, too. They sit out there and wait for me when the seeds run low - we have triplets right now - three little ones all the same :)
I love it when they are warming their bellies and hanging over the deck rails, too, Elizabeth. I wonder why no one has a pet squirrel? Maybe because they are too squirrelly to tame?
Do we need to announce an International Blogger's Day??? Maybe every day is Blogger's Day :)
