A FRISSON OF FLAMINGOS + COCONUT SCENT

I worked on the background for the Frisson of Flamingos (this is just an overall wash of color to get some color around the birds). Did this while my brother was outside powerwashing, scraping and caulking (he didn't actually begin putting paint on the house until 5:30 pm).

He'll be painting all day today and we've already seen that it will take 2 coats of the Coconut Scent (the color name). We've also seen that Coconut Scent looked pale beige on the paint chip sample but on the house, over the yellow, it looks pale yellow. Oh, well. At least it looks clean and fresh! And it will look so much nicer when it's done - which looks like may take 3 days, total, not 2 (and isn't that always the way home projects go - you estimate for a time and it always takes longer).

the flamingos are looking fantastic, looks like they're very close to "drop the brush and come out of the studio with your hands up!

The colors in your flamingo painting are just beautiful! I love the way you've arranged the flamingos too.
P.S. What a nice brother!!

Great flamingos! It always takes longer to do things than you think it will - isn't that Murphy's Law or something??

YES! You 'flushed out' those wild birds. Stunning. Looking forward to seeing it in real life and seeing updates on the house, too.

Thanks, Nick - where have you been? If I don't come out with my hands up, will I get splatted with a paintball? ha ha
Laura, thanks, I did take some time with the composition - positioning the flamingos from 2 different photos. Um, Laura, he's getting his usual hourly rate but I'm glad he has the time to do it (although that means he doesn't have regular work right now).
Deb, I guess my expectations were too high on this one - I'll be finishing the painting, I think :(
Hey, Sandy! If I'm not in class Thursday, I'll be standing on a ladder with a 4" brush in my hand, trying to finish this project before the end of the week :(

The water on the flamingoes is a winner so far, variation of color and different textures, nice! can't wait for more though I guess the house comes first, your brother hasn't wondered yet why is he painting while you and Jerry are on the floor taking photos? maybe he still thinks you are supervising... ;P

Seriously, I don't see that coconut color THAT yellow, just a tidbit, it looks really good, pretty pretty house!

Gracias, Teresa, Cathy, Gary and Joan, for your comments on the flamingos :) Gary, I like your artwork a lot - you, too, have a colorful exuberance to your paintings.

I love the flamingos - right now, as they are! Love these colors!

Good luck with the house! We have so many projects around here - don't know when they'll ever get done!

Thanks, Angela. I may get back to them next week :) Maybe they don't need too much more work on them and will be a quick finish!
