Saw this beauty in a recent Sierra magazine and had to try to paint it. The yellow spotted salamander is the only vertebrate that uses photosynthesis = when the eggs are placed in an algal pool, the algae that causes photosynthesis gets into the eggs…and into the growing salamanders, who then can use it (in a way) to gain energy from the sun!! Unfortunately, their yellow spots do not glow in the dark :(. So sad.

Wow! Every day is a school day! I had never heard of this - how clever. A great subject for lovely curving lines, the curve on its back is perfect. Best wishes I hope the allergies are better.
Sweet! I agree with Lisa: love the curves!
Thanks so much, Lisa and Laura. Sorry I haven’t been around - been doing the daily Sketchbook Revival stuff and it’s hard to keep up with it plus anything else. Last year, we had 1 lesson a day and this year they are doing 2 lessons a day. I don’t know how people who have jobs can keep up at all! Will share some when I get a break.
