TONED DOWN THE BACKGROUND AND FOREGROUND

I wasn't pleased with this painting as it stood so toned down the background a bit and then tried to get the foreground to read fallen leaves, bits of stuff, but nothing quite readable.  Needed to fiddle with it for a while.  Still not quite happy with it so...may be a do-over with a different idea for the background and foreground?

There are some artists out there who always seem so pleased with their work.  Does that mean they only share the best stuff - or are they really pleased with everything they paint?  And if the latter, how do they do that?  I'm always finding fault, either in the effort it took to make it or the outcome itself.  Oh, well.  I am going to do this over and play with those textures more and perhaps leave the bg pale light but not yellow.  Or less background sky area?  Or...still in the thinking stages! ha ha

Are you kidding me Rhonda? I'm NEVER happy about my art... even if it's almost ok, there will be one thing I would change.. I know confidence is nice to have, but I was out to lunch when that was passed around.

Yet when it comes to others' work I think it's good, as an example, YOURS !

Boy, you are not alone. I don't know how some painters just keep pumping out little gems. And I mean like almost every day! I try not to put crappy things on the blog, but I put up lots of stuff that I'm not happy with. If that's not done, no blog post at all. I "recycle" paintings a lot or just post photographs after I've ripped up paintings & have nothing to show. Or these painting challenges - some of my posts are cringeworthy. Very discouraging sometimes.

Still, as painters, we are our own worst critics. I look at other people's art, shake my head, and wonder why they're unhappy with their work. Wish I had done that - wish I had done something close... Or like Barbra Joan says, even after the art is posted, there would be one thing I would change.

There are more of us than more of "them" who pump out the daily masterpieces. But we have such a great blogging network of artists who encourage each other. So thankful for that.

Rhonda I am not certain anyone is ever completely satisfied with their art. I know I never am. Hope you enjoy your day. Hugs!

I did see this on facebook Rhonda and thought it was amazing what you are able to do with your watercolour paints! Not an easy subject but I love the almost luminous glow to your work.

I wonder the same thing, Rhonda. How can anyone be pleased with everything they paint?! That must be glorious ... or maybe not. How can you grow and improve if you arent able to see room for improvement? It's a learning experience, all the time!

I guess most of us are not entirely happy with our work - always something we could have done differently or better - so I’m not alone! ha ha. Just wonder about those who are told, “Oh, I love this!’ and reply “So do I!”. Is it their egos or do they really love everything they paint? ha ha.
