MOURNING DOVES, JUST THE TWO

Sometimes, I draw directly onto my watercolor paper and then begin painting.  Sometimes, I draw onto tracing paper and then trace the drawing onto the watercolor paper.

This time, I drew the two doves on tracing paper, traced that onto the watercolor paper and began.

Just two doves, from a photo taken out my kitchen window.  Didn't draw in the limbs on the tracing paper, but just looked at the reference photo and painted them in on the watercolor paper.  Once I'm happy with that, I'll begin on the two doves.

A very romantic pair!

I would be curious to see the finished piece of the two doves.

I teach watercolor at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I have shown the students that tracing technique. A significant number haven't ever seen or done this. It's almost always a hit with them when I show them how easy it can be.

We are a group of volunteers and opening a new scheme in our community.
Your web site provided us with valuable information to work on. You've done an impressive job and our entire community will be thankful to you.

Thanks, Laurie.

Glenn, come back on the 27th and see the finish :) I am so happy that people are still teaching watercolor - love the medium and all it can do and feel it doesn't get the respect it deserves.

I love the smudgy quality of the graphite on the tracing paper ... reminds of way back when I drew in vine charcoal!

Hey there! I know this is sort of off-topic but I needed to ask.
Does running a well-established website such as yours
take a large amount of work? I am completely new to
operating a blog however I do write in my
diary daily. I'd like to start a blog so I will be able to share my own experience and feelings online.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or tips for new aspiring bloggers.
Thankyou!

Thanks, Laura, I like that, too, but I do tend to end up with graphite all over my hands and arms but that’s okay, it’s part of the process. You don’t want to see me when I draw with charcoal! ha ha.

Anonymous - if you write in your diary daily, it will take no more time to start a blog and just keep up with it on a daily basis. Or maybe set days when you write in your blog and other days when you don’t - you don’t need to do it every day to gain a following. Set it up and see how it goes. Choose nice templates from the blogger site and go to it!! Visit other blogs under your blogger name and comment and you’ll be getting visits from those people who want to see what you’re doing. I’m getting a lot of comments from anonymous posters and I try to answer those that seem legitimate so I hope this helped you.

Glenn, let me know what you think of the finished product. I’m currently playing with my granulating colors from Daniel Smith and will hare that painting process next.
