MOTMOTS

Adding a little color to the Motmot painting...

And a little bit more...

Finished, but looking a bit stiff.  I think I'd do better by not doing the background as a whole and then painting the birds but bleeding and blending as I go along, leaving some white spaces in the background.

I may try this one again.  But I'm running out of paper - need to place an art supply order!!

Hi!
Greetings from Guarulhos, Brazil!
I searched for postcards painted with gouache when I found your blog. I am very surprised that you remain with yours, so many bloggers gave up theirs.
By the way, your paintings are very beautiful and inspiring, thanks so much for sharing them!

Your muted background color makes those birds sing! I can hear them way over here on the west coast.
Maybe not the finished piece you had envisioned, but it is a beautiful painting, Rhonda! Love how you blocked in the color on those beauties!
And did I hear "art supply order?" Made my heart flutter. :}

I agree with every word Chris said except for being on the west coast. :) Love the colors.

Thanks so much, Lucia! So happy you stopped by. Yes, I have been here a looong time! ha ha.

Thanks, Chris. I do like art supplies but just need some replenishing of the usual this time :). I appreciate your constant support!

very lovely bright colours :) I think they might look stiff because there isnt a lot of shading to the birds, but then you would lose out on the bright colours

Thanks, Elizabeth and best of luck on your upcoming show - wishing you lots of sales!!

Thanks, Jennifer Rose - it is hard (for me) to shade yellow...when I choose my yellow ochre to shade it, it just dulls it, so yes, wanted to keep the brightness. I'm sure I could go in with a little shading - but, of course, I'm off to the next one!! ha ha Have a great week, everyone!
