A BIT MORE TOMATO

Just a bit more of the tomatoes.  Slow going.  Perhaps it just doesn't thrill me?

Perhaps I should do something odd/unusual with that center tomato?

Are you a member of PaintmyPhoto?  I joined in order to get permission to paint Gary Jone's photo of a raven he took recently, but am apparently too stupid to figure out how to get around the site and post anything!

Happy March 1st!

Hi Rhonda, when I take too long with a painting it is usually because I feel disconnected with it but sometimes due to persistence it turns out well, lucky sometimes I think. Persevere with PMP it is a great site, I too have used Gary's images a couple of times. I prefer to have my own but obviously this is not always practical when you like something from the other side of the world

I love PMP and yet I too have occasional difficulties. Every time I do post I think I am linking to the original photo (I even see the link in the post) and yet I receive an email telling me I need to link to the photo.

Maybe do one of those black tomatoes you mentioned...?

I did the same thing - I saw that I was including the photo link but was told that I didn't do that - so I'm unsure how to get that to work; perhaps you have to put the link in your comment section? The black tomato is an excellent idea!!!

This looks great! and Yay! Spring is really coming to Ohio at last! Where and when is your beginner class? I didn't know you were doing that. I should stop by and say hello!

Katherine, I am teaching in my home in NKY :) I had 5 students but am now down to 2-3.

The longer I do this, the more I realize great photos are NOT for painting. Two different mediums, and they don't often cross over very well. You're better off painting from a crappy pic, if you're going to use one at all.

Lorraine, I prefer to use my own, too, but have no photos of ravens at all! Well, I do have 1 from Wyoming - but not a very good one.

Nick, I know what you mean - the photo is okay, not great; but that gives me leeway to change colors, positions, etc. Of course, those crazy plein air folks would say don't use photos - get out and see it and paint it from life!
