PEARS SQUARED

I never was good at math.  So this is not a square.  But it's close enough.

Just need to touch a bit of color on the stems to call this one finished.

Hi Rhonda! Isn't it wonderful what you can do with a simple subject? I like your creative use of color and shape. I look forward to seeing more of your pears!

Thanks, Barbra Joan/Pear Lady! I'll have to view your blog a bit and see all the pears you've done - I just fell into it, myself, no plan, just nothing else to paint that became one, two, three, paintings :)

Thanks, Christians and Peggy. Some things do just fall into place with color, design, etc. I'd like to do more collage work with some of them in the future.

Great feeling of light and colour. I'm also intrigued by the seeming overlap of the inner square on the pears. Where did that idea spring from?

Hi Rhonda,

I've really been enjoying your pears. You're doing some really interesting things with technique and color.

Nicely done, Rhonda!

Thanks so much, Carrie, Sherry and Mick :)

Mick, I put a mat over a piece of watercolor paper and drew some lines. I was going to leave the outside stuff unpainted and draw more but got carried away with the paint - and ended up with this. I've seen things with grids where they checkerboard the painting, lights vs darks, etc. and might try that next time. You have to have a good solid plan and stick with it if you're going to do that, though.

I love the clever design element of this, Rhonda. The subtle edges of the square extend into the reflection as well. Very creative idea!!

Thanks, Carol. It seems like artists really like this one. My Sweetie says it looks undone - but he's a photographer! haha
