Cordyline Progress - or Not...

Well, it's at the ugly stage and I'm not sure where to go with it.

Suggestions?

Hi Rhonda, I played around with it in photoshop but I can't post the jpeg here so I'll email it to you.

Thanks, Deb. I got your photoshopped version.
Dawn, more darks, more contrast, that's what it needs.
I'll take it to class tomorrow and they'll make me work out the uglies.

Hi Rhonda.
Perhaps you've been at it too long. I see it as quite lovely and a very interesting composition in the leaves of the flower.
What I would do at this stage is try cropping it on the computer on top. All the action is really focussed towards the bottom of the painting and too much on top is taking away from that.
Maybe even a little on the left side (viewers left that is).
Then put it away for a while and start on a new project.

Thank you, Andrea, for your comments on this one. This one was finished a long time ago, though, and I won't go back to it - it's in the pile somewhere! ha ha Although, in looking at the drawing and stages again, it might have turned into something nice and I may have more patience 3 year's later than I did back then! ha ha
