For this first one (which is really the last one I’ve done), you just paint some watercolor blobs of color and then draw over them, whatever takes your fancy).
The last two are more realistic versions of the items I found lying around. Soon there will be flowers - or at least buds - on the trees and in the gardens.

Hi Rhonda...hope you stayed safe yesterday...we had some strong storms come through bringing threats of tornados. I really like seeing your sketches in your book. Diane Antone on You Tube does some similar things - such a great way to keep us painting on a regular basis. It looks like you enjoy gathering things as I do...acorns for one since all year long they are available ( unless the squirrels eat them and thus far there is plenty for both of us :)!) Have a great day friend. Hugs!
Gorgeous! I love love love those barnacles!
Thanks, Debbie. Safe here and another storm predicted Sunday but it’s spring in the Ohio Valley and this is what we get :). I should check out Diane Antone, too. I watch Kelly Hornig and Amy Maricle for sketchbook things and to just enjoy small creations. Oh, yes, I gather things, usually small acorns, bits of twigs and leaves and so much stuff - rocks! Ha ha! Who knew we would still be gathering these little treasures at our age!
Thanks, Lisa. Now how did I know you would like those barnacles? :). I am finding so many little treasures in plastic bags and boxes all around while sorting through collage stuff - I guess I always thought I’d use them for something but the time never came (and it’s so easy to get lost underneath stuff in my little art room).
Your shells and rocks are beautiful! And I love the "blob" idea!
Thanks so much, Laura. I enjoyed doing these - nice and slow and getting the elements right on such a small piece in a small journal :).
