I’m thinking I might take the Skechy challenge of painting a portrait every day in October but that seems like a lot of pressure to get it all done…maybe I’ll just do one every other day? Or continue on my own with Domestika lessons helping me. (I did sign up for 3 more Domestika courses and the one on birds is really fun and full of information although her pronunciation of gouache bothers me every time she says it! ha ha

She pronounces it goo-wash. But maybe that’s her regional accent? Sarah Stokes is her name and she’s a good, informative teacher. I know these courses are not for someone who’s been painting in watercolor for years but it does kickstart me when I’m in a slump - and I always learn some little thing that’s new.

Rhonda your challenge of every other day sounds good. I always had trouble with the word gouache. Is it a French word?? Seems like your instructor is sounding it out as it is spelled...certainly something I would do as well :)! In the meantime am enjoying your portrait work. Hugs!
Yes, it’s French and you know how those French folks swallow their syllables! ha ha. I tried to learn French a few year’s ago and just gave up - I was trying to learn on my own and could not understand which parts of the words were pronounced and which were not. I’m wondering if I even have time to do every other day - but like the idea of having the videos available any time during or after the challenge…still thinking and need to make up my mind!

For the French word, Jennifer, it is gwash. Now, don’t ask me to pronounce Arches the correct way because when you do, it sounds just wrong!! Not Arr-chez but Arsh! Ah well, I maybe like words as much as I like colors.
LOL! Apparently, I am a word snob! I also have pet peeves for those who pronouce the hake (ha-kee) brush as hake (like rake)! Oh, well, it comes from reading a lot and looking up words I don’t know (did that even as a young kid).
