MILKWEED PODS

Milkweed pods before they burst open and have all that white fluff blowing around.  Hadn’t seen a milkweed pod since I was a kid - but the Extension Center in our neighborhood has a wonderful pollinator/butterfly garden full of flowers the butterflies and bees love.

Every time I take a walk there, I think I should learn more about gardening - but I don’t.  I just paint flowers.

Such beautiful greens, and a lovely complementary palette. I love the way some of the leaves twist ...
I took some photos of an exploded milkweed pod when I was out in WI and always wanted to paint them but never had any idea how to proceed!

Thanks, Laura. I have a photo of a bunch of them bursting out - may try to capture that next time. I hadn’t seen them since I was a kid and they grew along our fence line at home - amazing what used to be abundant that is now gone. Of course, we opened them, pulling them apart more and blowing the seeds all over.
