BETTER

Tried to make the photo match the real life painting more (the previous photo was too warm all over).  Added some darks here and there to make it better.

Rhonda, a lovely painting . I've always like photos and paintings of a single subject..

This looks super. I have a bit of white gouache and am going to try painting some of the feathers on a series of birds I've been doing. So glad to see you are still busy creating. Hugs!

Thanks, Barbara and Debbie. For some reason these 2 comments to the blog were hiding and I just found them - so thanks so much!
Debbie, gouache is just different. Still watercolor but opaque and you can layer and once dry it can still be rewet and lifted but, if you’re careful, you can layer it without lifting. Also...you can add lights after the fact, if you want (but I just paint with it like watercolor, light to dark. Hope that helps. One thing that’s neat about it is you can paint on kraft paper, dark paper, etc. because it will show up better than transparent watercolor on darker paper.

Lovely work. I like the range and gradation of the colors! And the shapes, and the subject
