I once had a book called
Even a Stone Can be a Teacher.
I don't remember anything about the book except the title. I'm pretty sure it was coming from a Buddhist perspective.
This is a little bit of a painting (about 5 x 7 inches) and I'm calling it
Even a Stone
Sometimes it's fun and invigorating to just play with textures.

Debbie, thanks, it's a small piece - small enough to slip into a large card and send to a friend (which is my intention and it's already on it's way to British Columbia to my friend).
Bruce, thanks for reminding me of the title - I am going to look for it and read it again - sounds like something I should read again! ha ha. As you say, playing on and on... that's what it's all about. Hope you are feeling the excitement of your May gallery opening and shows :)
OHGosh this came at just the right time.
I am struggling with "stones" as a painting.
In acrylic, however.
My first group of stones looked like meatballs…I kid you not.
I realize now that I HAVE to have some gray in the stones or they will just not look realistic.
Thank you for the inspiration and I LOVE stones/rocks.

Good contrast the stone texture and that deep dramatic blue. I am wondering what blue it is Rhonda.

Caroline, thanks :) I believe the deep blue is Indanthrone by Daniel Smith, a very deep dark blue.
