Another in the Plant Life series - this time another female version on a half sheet (15 x 22") Arches 140# cold press paper. Plant Life: Female No. 2 I think I might do this one again, using a lighter hand and fresher paints...we'll see.
This little series of male and female plants is one of your strongest yet. You may have found your niche! Are they all the same size? If so, they'd look wonderful grouped together with the same framing.
Jennifer Rose, to my eyes it looks duller than I want it to look - so a lighter hand with the pigments and just going over a place once or twice would be better.
Thanks, Jeanette. Yes, they are all (so far) half sheet paintings. Don't know what I am thinking except to run out the series and see what comes out of it!
Thanks, Lorraine. Yes, all half sheet paintings so far.
I am just loving this plant series Rhonda. Maybe a lighter hand would work but seriously, these are screaming for a show of their own; maybe at a tea shop, florist shop, etc. Just a thought.
Oh my Rhonda you are off and running this September. I love your male and female floral series. It looks like the muse has certainly inspired some lovely paintings. Your mix for black is one I must try. I use alizarin crimson- pthalo green or blue often for my blacks. Thanks so much for sharing. Hope you have a great week. Hugs!
Thanks, Elizabeth and Debbie :) Glad you are enjoying these. Not sure what I'm going to do with them but am enjoying trying to find photos that fit the "theme".
Yes, Carol, I'm influenced by her, especially in the "female" versions, going back to look at how she did her macros and made them so fluid and feminine.

Gorgeous. Reminds me of a Georgia O'Keefe.
