BLUES AND VIOLETS

I did a bit more on this small painting (fourth sheet Arches 300# hot press paper) of a hydrangea petal.  I want the center to really pop out so it needs more work. Unfortunately, I haven't been in a painting mood.  Tired.  Either dealing with a migraine or the after effects of one :( I will keep waiting for fall when this nonsense ends (when the weather changes); and wondering why my summers are so ugly now - something I am allergic to that is causing this, but what?  I've been tested for everything in the past.

To celebrate Sweetie's birthday, the girls treated him (and me) to a day at the Taft Museum of Art to see the daguerrotypes on exhibit.  Very interesting - the images are small but so crisp!  Worth seeing.  Then we walked 6 blocks to the Rock Bottom Brewery and had a good lunch.  It was a beautiful day - sunny with a nice breeze, not too hot.  Then last evening we went to my Mom's for a birthday dinner for him (he likes to spread his birthday celebrations out throughout the whole month! ha ha) with cupcakes and cheesecake and yummy food (plus cucumbers and tomatoes from her garden).  My sister crocheted him an afghan!  It's sooo cool!

His actual birthday was August 2 but I think we'll have one more outing to celebrate :)

Congratulations on the sale of 'crow girl' that is fantastic news! thanks for sharing the photos of the exhibition it looks a really nice show with fine works. I do like your 'Blues and Violets' and you have achieved the bright centre of the flower that you were wanting. The colours are nice and clean looking and the overall look very crisp. I do hope you feel better soon and well done you for painting when you were feeling poorly.

That blue center pops beautifully; love the colors of the hydrangea. I've only come close once recently to a migraine (I used to get them much more frequently when I was young) but I sure have been getting the headaches. Glad you are having several celebrations for Jerry's birthday (I hope I got it right this time; I'm flirting with yet another headache myself this a.m.).

hey Rhonda I am sorry you are feeling so poorly-I suffer from humidity-related migraines as well-although not to your extent -so understand how awful it is to be 'under the weather'. - It's so NOT FAIR!!!
We usually have oppressive heat and humidity here but this year it has been predominantly cool so am thankful-here's wishing it will come your way!

Congratulations on the sale of CAW GIRL although I am not in the least surprised-you know I love that series!

I also want to let you know how much I have enjoyed catching up on your blog-was so nice to sit and read with my morning coffee-thank you for sharing your 'self' with us!

Thanks so much, Caroline, Sadami, Sherry and Jan! It was a great thing to sell something (so little sells here in my area right now).

Jan and Lisa, I wish I knew what was instigating these migraines!! Humidity, heat? Stress, tension? Tiredness? Medication? What??? If I knew, I could get rid (or try to get rid) of the cause. As it is, just taking meds, feeling migraines coming and going almost every day - ugh!!! Hard on the creativity level, that's for sure!
