GESSOED CROW = DARK MESSENGER

This painting that began with white gesso on white watercolor paper has become
Dark Messenger.

I'm liking it but that doesn't mean it's finished.
It's 1/2 sheet Fabriano Artistico 140# paper, gesso and watercolor with some Inktense pencil marks here and there.

LOVING IT! The colors, the idea, and the boldness of the image centered! I saw a license plate today that made me think of you - "1 CAW" - wonder what it meant??

I love the intensity of that sky. It's funny, I was sure you had the wood darker in a previous step but I was wrong, must have been confused by the collaged one. The texture on the crow's feathers is looking really good in this gessoed one Rhonda, good job!

Deb, Now sure what 1 CAW means - I CAW? Maybe he/she has a pet crow? ha ha Glad you like it :)
Teresa, that sky was a mess and I kept playing with it and now it's pretty good - a nice glow to it.
Christiane, thanks :)

WOW! This is dynamic! I love it and that sky is just perfect to set off the crow.

Another winner! The black crow really pops in 3D out of the glowing oranges and blues. I'm wondering what else you'll be doing to it, it looks pretty near finished to me...

Thanks, Barb and Cathy! I was pleased how this turned out, knowing how I fussed with that sky - it was pretty muddy and I sprayed it all off once and began again = then I got the glow. I'm thinking just a bit more pencil/scratching work on the post?

Great job, Rhonda. I love how my eye goes directly to the head and upper breast. There is so much dimension to this messenger!

Thanks so much, Mary - if I could paint suns like you, I might just try one!
Thanks, Pam! Warming us up and getting ready for sunshine and spring!!
