NEW BOOKS = NEW INSPIRATION

I know I'm late in buying this book because Ms. Haines has a new book out (or coming out soon).  But I am looking forward to going through it and seeing what it teaches me - and how it insires me to paint looser and more watercolor-y.

So...September and October may be months to go back to "school" to study and learn a bit more about watercolor.

If you don't follow Jean's blog, you should - she shares some amazingly beautiful watercolors with her viewers.  Just go here and see!

My only nitpick with her blog is that she never seems to reply to posts from others, which a lot of busy artist do (or do not).  Makes me wonder why she has a blog, which I consider more interactive, than just a webpage listing her paintings.  Perhaps it's just easier creating a blog than a webpage of paintings and upcoming workshops.

Dear Rhonda - I have been wanting to purchase this book as well. Jean's style is certainly beautiful. Her enthusiasm for watercolor comes across in her blog as well. Take care and enjoy "going back to school" maybe I should join you!!

I've been going through this very same book, Rhonda, and like it for the experimental factor she encourages. She uses plenty of quality photos to visually describe her techniques. I, too, am looking forward to her new book. Can't say my results came even close to hers, (far, far, far from it), but I see lots of potential in her methods.

I have had this one for a while and a couple of her DVD's. She is coming to Australia in November and I have been lucky enough to get a spot for one of her workshops. I like loose but maybe not as loose as her style but I am so looking forward to the workshop. We dont get many here in South Australia

I think you'll like the book, Debbie. I know I'm not a loose painter (especially as loose as she has gotten over time), but it's a work in progress! ha ha

Carol, I need to really delve into it more, and am looking forward to her new book, too. I would love to see my work as I see others = if it's loose and light, it's done, not unfinished! ha ha

Diana, thanks for the tip on the book and the first one :)

Lorraine, lucky you! I imagine there is lot of loose women in that workshop :) ha ha I agree she's gotten almost abstract in her watercolor painting loosely, and that's not for me - but a work in progress to lighten up, loosen up, enjoy the flow more and control less when it comes to my own paintings :)

That's a great book...have to get mine out and get inspired by her, and you!
I find little loose studies help me get back into painting when, as now, I haven't been doing anything!

I wouldn't say you've been doing nothing - your time on the water learning to sail is something!!! So you can't sail and paint at the same time? ha ha Maybe next year!

I really like some of Jean's work and not crazy about others. I can't wait to see how you like it and what comes from your practice from the book. Good luck! :)
