FREE AS A BIRD - OR A TREE FROG!

Wednedsay morning we had storms and lots of rain.  Kept the day wet all day so Sweetie decided it was time to release some of the little tree frogs.  The photos aren't great - when you got cose to them, you bumped the leaves they were on and off they went - boy, can they JUMP!

I hope they are happy and healthy and live long froggie lives!

Don't worry - this was only a release of 4 - many many more to grow and feed (yes, they are eating the little pinhead crickets well) and release soon.

Soon, you and Jerry will be empty nesters again, poignant moments! If we have these tree frogs here on the desert I sure have never seen them, they probably live in the more damp and cool climates like where you are. We have no water near us, so frogs are not something we hear.

Rhonda,
Sniff, sniff. Seeing the kids leave the nest is such sweet sorrow. I salute you both for having the courage to raise these young-uns to be such fine representatives of their species and setting them off on life's grand journey.
You are both exceptional Humanists, Zoologists and grand examples of our species.
Time for a dry Kleenex!
Sincerely,
Gary.

I like the story about the tree frogs. How many do you think you will release? Thanks for sharing.

Yay!! There they are. Thanks for keeping us posted on the brood. Awesome fun. Ribit.

Reminds me of the Loren Eisley story of the fellow tossing stranded starfish back into the sea. One by one. A passerby comments that the fellow will never save all of the starfish. The fellow replies, "No, but I can save this one." and tosses one into the sea.

Good job.

Lovely to see the wee tree frogs leaving the nest to start their lives. You have both done a wonderful job raising them.

How lovely! Bittersweet, eh mom?

Susan, I doubt the little froggies could survive your heat and dry desert area.

Gary, don't tear up now, dear, they're just frogs! ha ha

Sadami, you have a great day, too!

Thanks, Christiane :)

Linda, we had 23 when we began. It looks like we have 12 frogs and we released 4 little ones on Wednesday but the rest look like they are not going to morph from tadpoles - they've stopped changing and maybe that's just nature's way - some make it and some don't. We'll release the other 12 that have turned once we have another wet day.

Thanks, Caroline and Autumn :)

Suzanne, I know that story - was given it many times when I worked with autistic children one-on-one years ago! We may be able to save 16 of them :)
