I worked a bit more on this painting. I see where I've thinned her hips too much - doesn't look natural right now. I may have to go in with fluid acrylics and make some changes at this point and get more vibrant colors but this is a good base for the painting, I think. It has possibility.
I get to go to the allergy doc's today and get pricked with things that are supposed to make me have an allergic reaction. Just a checkup and retesting that happens every few years but not the most fun thing I've done :) I'll take a good book with me to read while waiting for reactions.

Careful-- the right edge of the red shape is a shadow line not the edge of the figure. That edge is implied very subtly at the waist. I think she looks right. Nice figure! \\///\
The lady in red's got attitude! You're right about her being too thin in the hips. [I wish *I* could paint away MY hips!] Stay with her.

I like the drama of this painting Rhonda, it does have a lot of potential and I can't wait what you do when you introduce those acrylics here.

Dee, thanks. I did thin her up a bit compared to the photo I used - the dress pushes out and around those hips as she bends toward us. LOL! I have some areas I'd like to thin with paint, too :)
Teresa, thanks! I'll get the acrylics out tomorrow and see what I can do, little bit at a time (time for being more careful now).

The woman in red certainly has possibilities, she is gorgeous, I love the position of her head and her whole attitude, and to my eye it almost looks as if she is draped in a black coat or something...therefore the thin appearance.
Your figure in black and red is very graphic and reminds me of some of those old, bold posters of the 40's.
Good luck with your allergy pricks. I had that once. I told the doctor I wasn't allergic to anything. She didn't believe me. So she pricked me up and down both arms. She told me it wouldn't hurt but it did. And in the end, I was right...no allergies.

Carol, the test went as usual - pricks up and down my inner arm not bad but then just slight reactions get the full blown injection under the skin on upper arm and that inner upper arm doesn't like that!! I look like I've been attacked by mosquitoes and am a bit red and itchy even the day after :( What am I allergic to? Ragweed, some tree pollens, and house dust mostly.

Wow Rhonda! What a figure this gal has. Like Dee, if only a paint brush could do away with some of my "roundness"! I do love the vividness of these colors and they are very effective in creating an attitude in this one.
I have, twice, had these allergy tests and both times the after-effects of skin reactions lasted for two days and I was miserable from those. I looked like I had been attacked by killer bees! I was mainly allergic to desert trees and grasses, so once we moved "into town" from our ten acres of desert we lived on they subsided somewhat. Especially after moving to a community where 100-percent of the people have rock lawns and desert xeriscapes instead of grass lawns. That helped me the most.
Susan, you and me, too!! Paint those pounds away :) I'm a bit itchy in spots where I had the strongest reactions but it's not too bad. Still tired, though, and I think that's my body saying, Enough, already!!
