PORTRAIT: THE STARS HAVE LOST THEIR GLITTER

The night is bitter
The stars have lost their glitter.
The winds grow colder,
and suddenly you're older.
And all because of the man that got away...

--- Lyrics by Ira Gershwin

That song is in my mind.  The best I've ever heard it sung was when Cher did it.  Yep.  Cher.  That woman can sing a smoky blue song!

Today is Veterans Day.  To all veterans out there: Thank you.

the pose is eloquent with lovely expressive hands ... choice of watercolor feels right for the mood - its somehow more fragile, more ephemeral, fugitive ... feel like putting on some BB King now

Thank you so much, Harry. Your comments are most appreciated! And BB King is always a good choice.

Gary, you are most welcome.

Elizabeth, thanks - I do like that song. I think the old bluesy songs were worth saving and remembering.

- posted at 11.11 on 11.11 - poignant words and a sensitively painted portrait to go with them.

Thanks, Pam and Cathy. Cathy, I didn't have a soldier in mind when that song was running through my mind - but it definitely fits, doesn't it?
