BEGINNING ANOTHER HYDRANGEA PAINTING

Half sheet Arches 300# cold press

I started with the background greens.  I'll be calling this one

Movement in Blue

From photos I took of the hydrangea Sweetie bought me - such a pretty flower and you can go in for a macro shot, changing shapes and positions easily by just moving around the flower (or by turning it in its pot).

  1. Hi Rhonda,
Can't wait to see this one finished, and know it'll be a great painting.
Not being a watercolor painter, I learned a lot with your post about "fugitive" colors. I can certainly understand why it's a pet-peeve.
    Have a great week.
    Sincerely,
    Gary.

  2. Thanks, Gary. Slowly but surely on this one - you can never rush hydrangeas :) Glad you learned a bit about the Fugitive Colors. I really think it's a disservice to anyone we sell a painting to if we use low quality materials in this day and age. I do understand, in the past, artists used what they could get their hands on and what they could afford. Have a great one!!!
