Really great, Rhonda--esp. w/no drawing! I don't think I could manage. The red on the chest is spectacular, and I like the choice of green for the perch.
Like Deb, I am especially drawn to the eye! So admirable (and enviable) that this is with no drawing beforehand. I think it is much more spontaneous this way. Like this little guy!
Thanks, Deb, Laura, Susan, Asit, Sherry, Sadami and Laura M - this one is definitely my favorite of the bunch so far. I'm hoping each one will be looser and less contrived - no lines. I mean, it's just a bird, right? Not like a portrait without drawing! ha ha Of course, if you get his belly too thin - or his head too round - it doesn't quite look right, but it's hard to mess up completely (of course, I have tossed one in the garbage that really was so overworked it was sad). So - the goal is to loosen, free up the brush, let the bird fly!!
Really like this one - especially the eyes - you are on to something here!

ReplyDeleteLove the contrasts. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI would not have guessed this was done without drawing first. It is perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh, Rhonda, masterpiece! I love this!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Sadami
Impressive with no pre-drawing Rhonda.

ReplyDeleteI like this one Rhonda. I like the bright red on the chest. Great job of painting without drawing. Or drawing with painting. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite so far, Carol :) But I like the tufted titmouse, too...I hope I have several favorites when I'm through with the month.
ReplyDeleteI am loving your birds, Rhonda! I really believe they are your "thing".
ReplyDeleteKathryn xx
Thanks, Kathryn :) Not sure how much longer I'll continue with birds - maybe something else next month.
