TOO MUCH LIME

My intention was to work:
wet-in-wet
put the background in first
use purples and greens
pop the color by using pure colors

  1. Looks to me like you achieved what you intended! This is so purely watercolory, just lovely!

  2. The flower is SOOO lovely, loose, and yet still accurate (I can NEVER achieve that - once I loosen up, it's WRONG). But, for my sensibilities, the lime background does seem to overpower the blossom. I'd be interested to see a computer simulation where you had darkened the background to a deep blue or green, perhaps?

  4. Hi Rhonda,
Not too much lime, just a ton of talent! This is one heck of a beautiful painting.
If I were you, I'd enter this beaut in all the upcoming shows.
    Have a great week.
    Sincerely,
    Gary.

  8. Gorgeous! I don't think it's too lime. Sparkling with light and life, emphasizing the contrast.

  9. I think it worked beautifully. It has intensity that holds your gaze. A winner definately, don't change a thing!

  11. WOW, you all really know how to make a girl (ha ha) feel good!! I'm glad so many really like it. I am going to be working more wet-in-wet. I've decided that it's not my "natural" way of hitting the paper but it's the way I love and I can retrain myself just like training in drawing (which I am still doing) and anything else. Perhaps you can train an old dog some new tricks?
    Thanks so much, everyone!!!
