This is a functional iron made by the Corning Glass Company in 1934. Whoever owned this iron was a fashionable woman;
and I bet she had great arms from lifting this heavy thing!

ReplyDeleteKathyrn, I'm assuming it's heavy from the glass in it - and the functionality - but just think, no more free weights if you iron 1-2 times a week with this! ha ha
ReplyDeleteI saw one of those once! My mom said they made a lot of them during WWII because all metals were being used for the war effort. They are actually very pretty and quite artful.
