This was chosen for the OWW photo because, today at the watercolor society meeting, Lois Schaich will be doing a talk and demo on pouring watercolors for painting. Lois loves doing this, and it shows in her work. I am looking forward to this program today.

ReplyDeleteYes, Renate, it can be so light and lovely when you pour your whole painting - or just do the background pouring and then paint the usual way.
Debbie, thanks :) It was a fun day and I learned something - she used plastic condiment bottles for pouring (the kind you see at picnics with ketchup in them) and I'm going to get some - you can control the pour better that way!
Now this photo would make a good painting - maybe a PPPPoured painting that won't be BBBBoring!!

ReplyDeleteGinny, thanks for stopping by and commenting. Lois did her pour as just a background "flavor" for the painting of sunflowers. She poured a yellow, a red and a blue and let them mingle and move and then drew on the dried background colors and started painting wet-in-wet. When I pour, I always pour the whole painting, only tweaking the end darks in areas - I like the idea of using the pour as just a first step for a loose background. Deb may have more info on the GCWS blog later this month so check there to get more info and maybe a few photos.
