I watched an old Superman (Christopher Reeve) movie yesterday evening. The "special effects" were pretty lame compared to today's advances. I saw the town Smallville, where Superman was raised. Perhaps I should move there because I seem to be able to only work on small things right now - small paintings (fourth sheet or less) or postcards.

So this is all I have to share, even though I went to Deb's yesterday and painted. Granted, we had a mini-celebration for Sharon's birthday and ate and talked a lot!! So not as much painting getting done as usual :) But still just as fun.
This dragonfly is a postcard painting that will go out to someone next month or September.
I overworked and ruined the Indigo Bunting painting so started with a new drawing for that, paying more attention to the beak to make it right and getting the body shape better. Will transfer and paint that this weekend, I think.

But small is good too, isn't it? big or small the thing is that you keep painting, when the time comes for a change embrace it, meanwhile just enjoy the ride sweetheart :D

But for someone used to painting full sheets, it seems like just playing with paint - which may be a good thing to loosen up, not make it so precious, etc. :) Perhaps small is the new big?!? ha ha

Small doesn't mean "lesser", Rhonda. This little treasure you've painted is exquisite. Love the way you've cropped it so the wings go outside the border, and the delicate colors enhance the idea of a dragonfly. This painting will be deeply cherished by some very fortunate person.

ReplyDeleteDeb, I drew in some of the wing detail (not all of it) with graphite pencil - not as heavy as pen so it worked well.
Did you not know - size doesn't matter! - this is a wonderful dragonfly painting - I like the composition and delicate colours, and I've found a great new arty blog to follow!
