Thanks, Jane, Susan and Bohemia :) I do think my most successful paintings come from my dreaming them up and then getting them down on paper, using several photo references I have around. Sometimes I just look through photos and an idea comes - which is always good. If I painted better, I'd spend all my time painting big, macro flowers, but so many watercolorists paint them better than I!
