BROKEN

Something that feels protective and safe can really be fragile and easily broken.
But by breaking something, you may set yourself free.

I seem to be starting paintings, but not finishing them.  Maybe starting is enough for now.

  1. This is looking very interesting. Hope you go forward with it to the finish!

  2. This painting is very mysterious, alluring. I really like the range of grays and the jagged shapes.
I've been doing the same: starting but not finishing ... Too many springtime distractions?

  3. Don't worry Rhonda, I had done the same thing and had five paintings started. When we recently had some really rainy weather, I sat down during the two week time and finished four of them. Starting them is good; finishing them when the motivation is right feels even better.

  4. Your comments to your latest posts and your new profile photo make me worry about you. I hope your are fine and the problems are gone or they will very soon.

  5. Thanks, Ann and Laura. Perhaps starting paintings is much more fun than finishing and I need more fun right now? ha ha

Linda, maybe we all have spring fever and want to be outside or want something quick and easy right now - I just want tomse days without rain!

Irina, don't worry about me; I just get a bit philosophical when I get down in the dumps. My Sweetie listed 7 things that are making me sad so I guess sadness has to come - it will go again and I know warmer weather and sunshine will help. Nothing wrong with painting more than pretty pictures at times...gives your viewers a little something to ponder.

  8. Forgot to reply to Irina about the new photo = those are my hands with my mala (prayer beads). I'm Buddhist so that is a calming thing for me, nothing to worry about :)

  9. Starting them is good enough Rhonda, to be honest Ididn't come to comment but to give you a huge, soothing, warm [[[[huuuuug]]]] Be free, be happy, be yourself :).

  10. Starting is better than not starting. I've been having an awful time starting anything lately. This one looks interesting.

  11. Gracias, mi amiga Teresa :) I'll look for that link later on!

Michelle, yes, at least I'm starting but seem to just want to do that and not go back to it - maybe I have too many mediocre things in mind and nothing big has captured my attention yet. We'll see. This mood will pass - it's hot today - going right into summer!!

  12. I'm with Michelle - I find that starting is the most difficult for me - that intimidating white paper or canvas...
This is a captivating start - can't wait to see where it leads.

  13. Barb, I find it hard to believe you have trouble starting a painting, you are so prolific!!

  14. Barb, I find it hard to believe that you have problems starting paintings, you are so prolific!!! Maybe teaching others keeps you going but your own personal experimentation recently has been such a pleasure for me to watch.
